The Danger of Being Fine

When was the last time the news made you cry?

We saw all of it. And we went on with our day.

It's not that we don't see. We just got used to it.

"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen…"

"What is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

2 Corinthians 4:18

"I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!"

"Because you are lukewarm… I am about to spit you out of my mouth."

Revelation 3:15-16

"You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.'"

"But you do not realize

…that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked."

Revelation 3:17

Cold people know they are cold. Only the lukewarm feel fine.

When was the last time God changed something in you?

"Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent."

"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock."

Revelation 3:19-20

"Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above…"

"Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things."

Colossians 3:1-2

What is seen is going to pass. The question is not if it passes — it is where you will be looking when it does.

Lord, don't let me be fine.
